IRISH IN BRITAIN'S ANNUAL
VOLUNTEER AWARDS
Irish in Britain established the annual Volunteer Awards in 2018 to recognise outstanding volunteers within our member organisations throughout the Irish community in Britain.
We want to showcase the phenomenal work that volunteers do in our community and honour both groups and individuals for their extraordinary contribution. Click here for further information.

SIPP - SOUTHWARK IRISH PENSIONERS' PROJECT
You can help to improve the special care SIPP delivers to the most vulnerable people in the Irish community of south London by volunteering your time and/or expertise in many different ways.
They need volunteers to befriend our pensioners living at home who have become isolated due to reduced mobility, health issues and lack of family support.
SIPP's Helping Hands Scheme offers many opportunities for volunteers to make a difference - from visiting people at home, taking them out to meet a friend, or maybe to go shopping; a friendly phone call every week can really brighten someone's day especially if they haven't spoken to another person for several days. Just a 10 minute catch up phone call can have an enormous impact on someone's life.
They are always looking for people to help out with general administration, particularly around the editing and distribution of our newsletters and advertising leaflets.
And fundraising is an ever present need.
You can volunteer to help out in the day service, helping with refreshments, maybe sharing your expertise with a mobile phone or ipad or sharing your interests and skills with others e.g. knitting or flower arranging. It is very rewarding and a great way of meeting people. We always need extra hands to help out at our tea dances and to help organising day trips and outings to places of interest and at the various social and cultural events throughout the year.
